7 Franchises In One

The business model of franchising is a great one. The good ones are very innovative. And very smart. Here's a fairly new one out of the foothills of the Appalachians. Innovate. Or be the same.

Imprintintime

From Dane Carlson's blog;

"While they do specialize in signs, that is not all. Imprint In Time also does trophies, shirts, hats, coffee mugs, and a variety of promotional items. The printing possibilities for one of their franchises is endless."

The 7

1. Signs are a stand alone business

2. Awards and trophies are a stand alone business

3. Screen printing shirts & hats is a stand alone business

4. Embroidering shirts and hats is a stand alone business

5. Reprographics (blueprints) is a stand alone business

6. Printing is a stand alone business

7. Promotional products and personalized gifts is a stand alone business.

Your Franchise Search; Where To Start

Recently, I had the honor of being a member of the AllBusiness.com blog team, and was able to contribute some franchise/small business content to this highly ranked Dun & Bradstreet owned website.

Here's an article I wrote for them that will really help those of you that are just starting to look into this great business model;

"There are about 3,500 franchise and business opportunities to choose from. What are your chances of finding one that is a nice fit for your personality traits, your professional background, and your lifestyle desires? Even if you are not schooled in statistics {or in my case, Pre-Algebra} , there must be some chance in finding an opportunity in franchise ownership. Even if you are in a negative frame of mind because of the economy, the job market, or some nice home based nagging, you have to be able to see some light at the end of the tunnel, right?"

Mr. Handyman Will Help Franchisees Win Commercial Accounts

    Handy

This franchisor seems to get it.

{Full disclosure; I help Mr. Handyman find great franchise owners, and receive a finder's fee from them for doing so.}

Service Brands International, out of Ann Arbor, has done a fine job with their franchise concepts.

They are always looking for ways to add revenue;

They want to launch a "national accounts" program, in which the franchise would become the preferred provider of repair and maintenance work for businesses with multiple locations. A pilot is already being tested at Wyndham Hotel Group properties in three states.

Some franchisees are a little wary, though. They feel that corporate won't charge enough for these accounts, which will add low-profit time to their schedules.

If I was a franchisee, I would be excited about the possibilities. Wouldn't you?

The Wall Street Journal online just wrote an article about The Mr. Handyman idea.

Caution; "Business Opportunities"

         Have you ever heard this?

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Have you ever been tempted to inquire about "opportunities" that promise;

  • Internet Millions!
  • Make Up To $2,000 Weekly Working From Home
  • Become A Medical Transcriptionist In The Booming Medical Industry
  • Make Money With Foreclosures!

Fraud is most often associated with vending machine, display rack, pay phone, medical billing, work-at-home, and some Internet-related business opportunities.

Promotions for fraudulent business opportunities often appear in the classified pages of daily and weekly newspapers and magazines, and online. They also may be marketed in television infomercials and commercials.

The Business.Gov website, {It has been re-done} linked to a great article about how some of these "Business Opportunities" work, and what you need to watch out for.

Read it here.

I've written about this in the past.

Who's The King?

  • "Joel doesn't pull any punches. He is brutally honest and pro-franchise. But that doesn't mean he thinks every franchise company is great. He works with a very select group of franchise companies. He's also very selective about who he takes on as a client. Franchising isn't for everybody and Joel knows that." -Diane Helbig, Examiner.com review
