Solar Franchise Update From The Franchise King Blog!
With Earth Day being celebrated around the planet yesterday, I thought this would be the time to update you on a very popular topic...Solar Energy-Franchising.....
I have written about Yes! Solar Solutions in the past, and have been keeping an eye on new franchise start-ups related to Solar Energy. Surprisingly, I have not run across any pure franchise concepts that are trying to be copycats of Yes! Solar Solutions. Their first location, in Roseville Ca. looks like it is doing well, and they just sold the Orange County territory to an investment group.
Personally, I like the concept, but is is way too young to start getting too excited. Let's see how things play out. My fear is that new franchisors will enter this totally uncharted Solar Energy market,try to exploit it, and turn folks off. I am sure that some MLM gurus are thinking about ways to pyramid this into some kind of well...pyramid scheme, so please be on the lookout for supposed "franchises" that are not franchises. I define exactly what a franchise is, on the franchise blog that I run over at AllBusiness.com.
The only other Solar Energy related franchise I have been watching a little is an auto-related one. It is called SouthCoastAuto, and they are offering dealerships. UPDATE!
Before I became involved in the franchise matchmaking/consulting part of the business, I was involved at the dealer level in automotive franchising, so I know it well. Tough business, but one that is always looking for new products.
