I think it's more important to spend time as a franchise customer rather than a franchise employee. However, if you know nothing about the industry you're about to get into, be prepared to hire a seasoned manager.

I don't know about franchises. I do think due diligence is a good idea for any investment. And working in the business, industry, you're planning to invest in is one of the best ways to know an industry from the inside out.
